AF-SA-0535.T.jpg

Color lithograph depicting a ship, flying the American flag and with the name Oscar printed upon it, in a harbor. On board ship, there is a fight: men are brandishing axes and aiming muskets. Most of the figures appear to be white, but one, who stands on the right side of the ship, appears to be black. There is also a boat on the water. In the background are mountains. In the foreground are several houses, surrounded by trees, and at right, a church.
Text printed in the lower margin reads:
"Entered according to Act of Congress in the year 1846 by Samuel D. Allyn in the Clerk's office of the District Court of the Southern District of New York. View of the Barque Oscar of Sag-Harbour, Capt. Isaac Ludlow. __ Mutiny at Ilha Grande Aug 18th 1845. In which one of the crew Leonard A. Curtis was instantly shot."
On the margin below the church, "Funeral of Leonard A. Curtis."
