A colored lithograph of the new royal yacht 'Victoria and Albert' at Spithead 28 August 1843 with Queen Elizabeth and Prince Albert aboard. She is on her way to review a squadron assembled at Spithead. The HMS 'St. Vincent' performs a ship's salute and sailors "man the yards," or stand evenly spaced on all the yards. A small sailboat in the right foreground exerts great effort to maneuver the sail and navigate toward the royal yacht. The names of the numerous vessels in the background are labeled below the plate; a geographical point of reference, the Norris Castle & Cowes Point, is also identified.
