AF-JX-0946.T.jpg

Monochrome engraving of Jonah being hurled from the side of a single-masted ship, its sail ripped, with sailors struggling with the rigging, during a storm that has sent the waves into foamy disarray. At bottom right, a whale opens its gaping mouth to receive Jonah. Surrounded by an elaborate floral border, with the passage from the book of Jonah above, and the title below the border. At top margin is the text, "Engraved for the Revd. Dr. Southwell's Family Bible."
