Plate 1 from 'Fores's Marine Sketches.' A crowded scene depicting various private and government-owned yachts off Cowes in the Isle of Wight. The yacht in the center, with its port-broadside visible, is the 'Xarifa.' She belonged to the second Earl of Wilton. The names of other notable yachts in the background are listed in the margin immediately below the image: 'Mirage,' HMY 'Victoria & Albert,' HMS 'Fairy,' 'Xarifa,' 'Musquito,' 'Bianca,' and 'Pearl.'
