Draught of a fourteenth-century Venetian galley used at the battle of Lepanto (1571). The galleass were oared ships developed from large merchant galleys and converted for military use since they were higher, larger and slower than regular galleys. The draught depicts a typical galleass, which carried more sails than true galleys.
